You don’t have to do this alone.
A PLACE TO BEGIN
If drinking is causing problems in your life, AA is a place to find understanding, shared experience, and support.
Recovery begins when one alcoholic talks with another alcoholic, sharing experience, strength, and hope.
There’s a place for you here.
YOUR FIRST MEETING
It’s okay to have questions.
Walking into a meeting can feel like a big step. You’ll meet people who understand what it’s like to ask for help with drinking.
You can come as you are. You can start by listening.
Will I have to speak?
You’re welcome to listen. You don’t have to share your story before you’re ready.
Does it cost anything?
There are no dues or fees for AA membership. Groups may pass a basket for voluntary contributions.
Which kind of meeting should I choose?
Open meetings welcome anyone interested in AA, including friends and family as observers. Closed meetings are for AA members and people who have a drinking problem and want to stop. Check the listing for any other meeting details.
Can I talk to someone first?
Yes. Call the AA helpline at (828) 254-8539. You can ask questions before choosing a meeting.
